Dr Hinton has been working as a private psychiatrist in Belmont since 2011. Recently he moved to his brand new purpose built facility at 2 Thomas Street, Belmont, where he provides psychiatric assessment and treatment.
Dr Hinton completed his medical degree in 1996 in Manchester, England and is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists and is also a Member of The Royal College of Psychiatrists (UK) and has recently completed his advanced training in psychotherapy. He has 19 years experience in psychiatry, having trained and practiced in New South Wales, Victoria, New Zealand and England.
Dr Hinton has a wide range of experience which includes acute, rehabilitation, substance abuse and forensic psychiatry. He is able to assess and treat anxiety and mood disorders, psychosis, attention defecit hyperactivity disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, personality disorders and substance abuse and accepts referrals for treatment of any adult psychiatric disorder. Dr Hinton also provides psychotherapy.
He has previously worked as a staff specialist psychiatrist for the Lake Macquarie Mental Health Service based at Charlestown, Warners Bay Private Hospital and as a staff specialist for Hunter New England Health at Morisset Hospital.
